The Whitby Weather-Ready Rebate
The Town of Whitby — through the Durham Greener Homes program — is distributing municipal funds directly to homeowners who install permeable surfaces and stormwater management systems. As Fusion Landscape Professionals, we are among the few contractors in the region qualified to unlock this program for you. We assess your full rebate eligibility at no cost, as part of your free site assessment.
| Eligible Upgrade | Rebate Amount |
|---|---|
| Permeable Pavement | Up to $5,000 |
| Rain Garden | Up to $2,500 |
| Downspout Disconnection + Rain Barrel | Up to $1,000 |
| Certified Landscape Design | Up to $500 |

*The Durham Greener Homes Weather-Ready Rebate is capped at $5,000 per property — individual upgrade amounts are eligible components toward that total, not additive beyond the cap. Available to Whitby residential properties within the Region of Durham. All projects must be completed and submitted by November 30, 2026. Amounts depend on project scope and property eligibility.
What's Actually Happening
Aging Infrastructure Was Never Built for Today's Density
Whitby's mature subdivisions — particularly those near Pringle, Corbett, Lynde Creeks, and more — were built around drainage infrastructure sized for a different era. As hard surfaces multiply and lots intensify, the swales and catch basins that once managed runoff are overwhelmed. That water ends up on your property.
When legacy systems fail, your lot absorbs the overflow.Every New Hard Surface Adds to Your Problem
When neighbours repave, expand their footprint, or add impermeable surfaces, less water infiltrates the ground. That extra runoff sheets across lots, follows grades, and collects at low points — often yours. The problem compounds every year without an engineered correction.
Runoff compounds year over year without an engineered fix.Heavy Rain Now Means Property Damage
Yard pooling, water tracking toward foundations, degraded surfaces, saturated soil — these are symptoms of a drainage system that can't handle modern conditions. Left unaddressed, each storm does incremental damage. The Town of Whitby recognised this and created a program to fund the fix.

What We Build
We design and install stormwater systems that solve your drainage problem and enhance your property's beauty — engineered for Whitby lots and fully compliant with Durham Region and CLOCA requirements.
Our structural clear-stone sub-base is compacted to commercial standards — built to carry load and last decades. Below the surface, it functions as a private underground storm reservoir, intercepting and slowly releasing runoff before it reaches your foundation or overwhelms the municipal storm sewer.
Water moves through a permeable surface immediately — soaking into the sub-base reservoir below rather than sheeting across your property or pooling at your foundation wall. Resin bound aggregate is engineered for freeze-thaw cycles: no cracking, no heaving, outlasting concrete through Canadian winters.
Beyond permeable pavement, the program funds a suite of complementary upgrades: architecturally designed rain gardens, infiltration galleries, downspout disconnections, rain barrels, French drains, and underdrains. Each adds rebate value while enhancing your landscape — planted for beauty as much as performance.
Every system we install is designed with your property's appearance in mind. Permeable surfaces, rain gardens, and stormwater features aren't just infrastructure — they're landscape. We build drainage that your neighbours will ask about.
The Rebate Process
Durham Greener Homes provides free coaching appointments to Whitby residents. Your coach confirms your rebate eligibility and provides the pre-approval notice needed before work begins.
As Fusion Landscape Professionals, our quote satisfies the program's contractor qualification requirement. We prepare all project documentation needed for your rebate application — you submit it to your Coach.
Once pre-approved, we execute your project — permeable driveway, rain garden, downspout disconnection, or any combination of qualifying upgrades — to full Durham Region and CLOCA standards.
Upload your completion documents and invoices to the Durham Greener Homes portal. Your rebate cheque arrives by mail within 1–2 months of approval — with no further action required from you.
It is the homeowner's responsibility to complete the Durham Greener Homes application steps. We provide all required documentation and are available to support you throughout the process.
3D Design Visualization
Every Permeable Elegance project includes a complete photorealistic 3D visualization — precise to your property's dimensions, materials, and proposed upgrades. You approve every detail before a single stone is moved. Your 3D design also serves directly as the site plan documentation required for your Durham Region permit submission and your Whitby Weather-Ready Rebate application.
